Which one of the following pairs of molecules will have permanent dipole moments for both members?

Which one of the following pairs of molecules will have permanent dipole moments for both members?
  1. $\mathrm{NO}_2$ and $\mathrm{CO}_2$
  2. $\mathrm{NO}_2$ and $\mathrm{O}_3$
  3. $\mathrm{SiF}_4$ and $\mathrm{CO}_2$
  4. $\mathrm{SiF}_4$ and $\mathrm{NO}_2$

Solution

Both $\mathrm{NO}_2$ and $\mathrm{O}_3$ have angular shape and hence will have net dipole moment.
