Intramolecular hydrogen bonding takes place when five membered or six membered rings are formed.
Benzoic acid, benzaldehyde and phenol does not have this property and that is why they cannot form intramolecular hydrogen bonds. But by the structure of salicylaldehyde, it can be said that, it can form intramolecular hydrogen bonds as shown below:
