Which of the following is true for the value of $\Delta \mathrm{H}-\Delta \mathrm{U}$ at constant volume?

Which of the following is true for the value of $\Delta \mathrm{H}-\Delta \mathrm{U}$ at constant volume?
  1. R
  2. Zero
  3. $\frac{3}{2} R$
  4. $\frac{5}{2} R$

Solution

$\Delta H_1=\Delta U+P \Delta V$
At constant volume, $\Delta \mathrm{V}=0$ $\begin{array}{ll} \therefore & P \Delta V=0 \\ \therefore & \Delta H-\Delta U=0 \end{array}$
