Which of the following compounds will undergo racemisation when solution of KOH hydrolyses?

Solution

For racemisation process, there must be presence of chiral carbon atom which is present in only (iv) compound. Hence, the compound in option (iv) can undergo racemisation beacuse all the 4 substitutent groups are different and there is no plane of symmetry.
