Which of the following compounds are antiaromatic
  1. (I) and (V)
  2. (II) and (V)
  3. (I) and (IV)
  4. (V) and (VI)

Solution

For a compound to be aromatic it must have $(4 n+2) \pi e^{-}$and system should be planar where $n$ is an integer. (V) and (VI) both have $4 e^{-}$and planar structure. Hence are Antiaromatic
