When carbon dioxide is bubbled through solution of calcium hydroxide (slaked lime), water insoluble solid calcium carbonate is formed. $\mathrm{Ca}(\mathrm{OH})_{2(\mathrm{aq})}+\mathrm{CO}_{2(\mathrm{~g})} \rightarrow \mathrm{CaCO}_{3(\mathrm{~s})}+\mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{O}_{(\ell)}$
