Which among the following is least covalent in nature?
  1. $\mathrm{NF}_3$
  2. $\mathrm{BiF}_3$
  3. $\mathrm{PF}_3$
  4. $\mathrm{SbF}_3$

Solution

According to the Fajan's rule, smaller the cation, stronger is the covalent bond it forms, more is the covalent nature. $\mathrm{Bi}$ forms largest cation in the group. So, it is least covalent in nature.
