When two dice are thrown, the probability of getting the sum of the values on them as 10 or 11 is
  1. $\frac{7}{36}$
  2. $\frac{5}{36}$
  3. $\frac{5}{18}$
  4. $\frac{7}{18}$

Solution

Number of elements in sample space $=6 \times 6=36$
Sum is 10 or $11=(4,6),(5,5),(5,6),(6,4),(6,5)$ $\therefore$ Required probability $=\frac{5}{36}$.
