What is the main way that O₂ is transported in the body?
  1. As a dissolved gas in the blood
  2. As carbamino-haemoglobin
  3. As oxyhaemoglobin
  4. As bicarbonate (HCO₃)

Solution

Oxygen is transported mainly as oxyhaemoglobin. In the alveoli where pO₂ is higher, O₂ gets bound to hemoglobin which is easily dissociated at the tissues where pO₂ is low and pCO₂ and H⁺ concentration are high.
