What is the difference in molar mass of any two neighbouring alkanes?
  1. $12 \mathrm{~g} \mathrm{~mol}^{-1}$
  2. $10 \mathrm{~g} \mathrm{~mol}^{-1}$
  3. $15 \mathrm{~g} \mathrm{~mol}^{-1}$
  4. $14 \mathrm{~g} \mathrm{~mol}^{-1}$

Solution

Mention that -CH2 unit is added when we move b/w succesive hydrocarbons . That is why 14g mass difference is always there b/w succesive hydrocrbons in same monolgue series.
