What are decomposers? Give two examples. State how they maintain a balance in an ecosystem.

Decomposers are the microorganisms which breakdown the complex organic substances into simple inorganic substances. Examples: bacteria and fungi The simple substances formed by decomposition go into the soil and are used up once more by the plants, thus maintain balance of ecosystem.
