Two identical galvanometers are converted into an ammeter and into milliammeter. For the same current, the value of shunt of the ammeter as compared to that of milliammeter is
  1. less
  2. equal
  3. more
  4. zero

Solution

When galvanometer is converted to ammeter, shunt of very low resistance is added, which diverts higher amount of current. When galvanometer is converted to miliammeter, shunt of comparatively high resistance is added. $\therefore \quad$ The value of shunt of ammeter compared to miliammeter is less.
