Two electric bulbs, rated at 25 W, 220 V  and 100 W, 220 V, are connected in series across a 220 V voltage source. If the 25 W and 100 W bulbs draw powers P1 and P2 respectively, then:
  1. P1=4 W, P2=16 W
  2. P1=9 W, P2=16 W
  3. P1=16 W, P2=9 W
  4. P1=16 W, P2=4 W

Solution

R1=V2P=220×22025=44×44

R2=220×220100=22×22

As resistance are in series current through them will be same.

P1P2=i2R1i2R2=44×4422×22=41

Therefore, among the given options, the option matching is P1=16 W, P2=4 W
