Saccharic acid is also known as (2R,3S,4S,5S)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydroxyhexanedioic acid

As shown below the structure saccharic acid has four hydroxyl groups. 

Thus saccharic acid has two carboxylic groups at terminal carbon and four alcohol group attached with middle carbon.
