Three vectors P, Q and R are shown in the figure. Let, S be any point on the vector R . The distance between the points P and S is bR. The general relation among vectors P, Q and S are

  1. S=1-b P+b2Q
  2. S=B-1P+bQ
  3. $\vec{S} = |1 - b|\vec{P} + b\vec{Q}$
  4. S=1-b2P+bQ

Solution

Let, vector from point P to point S be C

 C=bR R^=bR RR=bR=bQ- P

From triangle rule of vector addition,

P+ C= S

P+bQ- P= S

 S=1-bP+bQ
