Three forces start acting simultaneously on a particle moving with velocity, $\overrightarrow{\mathrm{v}}$. These forces are represented in magnitude and direction by the three sides of a triangle $\mathrm{ABC}$. The particle will now move with velocity
  1. less than $\overrightarrow{\mathrm{v}}$
  2. greater than $\overrightarrow{\mathrm{v}}$
  3. $|\mathrm{v}|$ in the direction of the largest force $\mathrm{BC}$
  4. $\overrightarrow{\mathrm{v}}$, remaining unchanged

Solution

According to triangle law of forces, the resultant force is zero. In presence of zero external force, there is no change in velocity
