The voltage gain and current gain of a transistor amplifier in common emitter configuration are respectively 150 and 50 . If the resistance in the base circuit is $850 \Omega$, then the resistance in the collector circuit is
  1. $1700 \Omega$
  2. $2250 \Omega$
  3. $2550 \Omega$
  4. $3000 \Omega$

Solution

For CE configuration of transistor, $\begin{aligned} & A_v=150, \beta=50, R_B=850 \Omega \\ & \therefore \quad \text { Voltage gain, } A_v=\beta\left(\frac{R_0}{R_I}\right)=\beta\left(\frac{R_C}{R_B}\right) \\ & \Rightarrow 150=50 \times \frac{R_c}{850} \\ & \therefore R_c=3 \times 850=2550 \Omega \end{aligned}$
