Pyramid of numbers represents the number of individuals per unit area at various trophic levels. It is always upright in grassland, pond and lake ecosystems. But in a forest, it is a partly upright pyramid of numbers because the number of producers are lesser in number and support a greater number of herbivores and which in turn support a fewer number of carnivores.
