The ratio of work done by an ideal monoatomic gas to the heat supplied to it in an isobaric process is
  1. 25
  2. 32
  3. 35
  4. 23

Solution

Work done by an ideal daitomic gas is given by, W=Q-UQ=nCpT where Cp for diatomic gas is 52RU=nCvT where Cv for diatomic gas is 32Rhence W=n52RT-n32RT=nRT52-32=nRT

And heat supplies is given by, (Q)p=nCpT=n52RT

Hence the ratio is given byWQP=nRTn52RT

                                           WQP=25
