The pole of the line x a + y b = 1 with respect of the circle x 2 + y 2 = c 2 is

The pole of the line xa+yb=1 with respect of the circle x2+y2=c2 is
  1. c2a,c2b
  2. c2b,c2a
  3. ca,cb
  4. cb,ca

Solution

Let Px1,y1 be a pole with respect to the circle x2+y2=c2

Then polar equation is given by,

T=0

 xx1+yy1-c2=01

xx1c2+yy1c2-1=0

Since Px1,y1 lies on xa+yb=1x1a+y1b-1=02

Now comparing with equation 1 and equation 2 we get point x1,y1c2a,c2b
