The order and the degree of the differential equation $\left[1+\left(\frac{d y}{d x}\right)^{3}\right]^{\frac{7}{3}}=7\left(\frac{d^{2} y}{d x^{2}}\right)$ are respectively
  1. 2,3
  2. 3,3
  3. 2,2
  4. 3,2

Solution

We have $\left[1+\left(\frac{d y}{d x}\right)^{3}\right]^{\frac{7}{3}}=7\left(\frac{d^{2} y}{d x^{2}}\right)$ Raising both sides to power of 3, we get $\left[1+\left(\frac{d y}{d x}\right)^{3}\right]^{7}=(7)^{3}\left(\frac{d^{2} y}{d x^{2}}\right)^{3}$ Hence order $=2$, degree $=3$
