The number of lines that can be drawn through the point $(4,-5)$ at a distance of 10 units from the point $(1,3)$ is
  1. $1$
  2. $0$
  3. $2$
  4. $\infty$

Solution

The point are $(4,-5)$ and $(1,3)$. Distance between two points are $\sqrt{(4-1)^2+(-5-3)^2}$ $=\sqrt{9+64}=\sqrt{73}$ Distance between points are less than 10 . $\therefore$ No line can be drawn through the point $(4,-5)$ at a distance of 10 units from the point $(1,3)$.
