Solution
Geometry and structure of phosphorus pentachloride \(\left(\mathrm{PCl}_5\right)\) molecule is trigonal bipyramidal where P-atom is \(s p^3 d\)-hybridised.
Three \(\mathrm{Cl}\)-atom are present at equatorial positions with \(\angle \mathrm{Cl}-\mathrm{P}-\mathrm{Cl}=120^{\circ}\) and two \(\mathrm{Cl}\)-atoms are present at axial positions with \(\angle \mathrm{Cl}-\mathrm{P}-\mathrm{Cl}=90^{\circ}\).
