The north pole of a long horizontal bar magnet is being brought towards closed circuit consisting of a coil. The direction of induced current produced in it is
  1. anticlockwise
  2. horizontal
  3. vertical
  4. clockwise

Solution

According to the Lenz's law, the induced current is such that it opposes the change in flux which causes it. Hence the induced produces a field which opposes the field due to the magnet. For this it should flow in anticlockwise direction.
