The non-zero potential difference across diode $\mathrm{D}_{1}$ and that across diode $\mathrm{D}_{2}$ are equal in the circuit shown in the figure (both the diodes are identical in characteristics)

  1. (A)
  2. (B)
  3. (C)
  4. (D)

Solution

In diagram (a) anode is at a lower potential compared to cathode. Hence it is reverse biased. In diagram (b) anode is at a higher potential compared to cathode. Hence it is forward biased.
