1. In polar aprotic solvent, primary alkyl halides undergo ${\text{S}}_{\text{N}}{}^2$ reaction with $\text{KCN,}$ to give alkyl nitrile.

2. Alkyl nitriles, reduce in presence of ${\text{H}}_{\text{2}}/\text{Pd,}$ give ${\text{1}}^{\text{o}}-$ amines.

3. Cyclic ketones, on reduction with ${\text{H}}_{\text{2}}/\text{Pd,}$ form ${\text{2}}^{\text{o}}-$ alcohol.
