The magnetic susceptibility of a paramagnetic material at $-73^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ is $0.0075 .$ Its value at $-173^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ will be
- $0.0075$
- $0.0045$
- $0.0150$
- $0.0030$
Solution
$\chi \propto \frac{1}{\mathrm{~T}} \quad \frac{\chi_{1}}{\chi_{2}}=\frac{\mathrm{T}_{2}}{\mathrm{~T}_{1}}$
$T_{1}=273-73=200, \quad T_{2}=273-173=100$
$\therefore \quad \chi_{2}=\frac{T_{1}}{T_{2}} \times \chi_{1}=\frac{200}{100} \times 0.0075=0.0150$
