The following statements concern elements in the periodic table. Which of the following is true?
- For group elements, the stability of oxidation state increases down the group.
- Elements of group have lower ionization enthalpy values compared to those of group in the corresponding periods.
- The group elements are all metals.
- All the elements in group are gases.
Solution
Group elements have less ionization potential than Group elements due to half-filled configurations of group elements. So need more amount of energy to remove an electron. In the halogen family iodine is solid and bromine is liquid. In the boron family boron is non metal.
