The equivalent capacitance between points $\mathrm{A}$ and $\mathrm{B}$ as shown in figure is
  1. $\frac{4}{3} C$
  2. $2 C$
  3. $5 C$
  4. $\frac{3}{2} C$

Solution

Equivalent circuit, using potential at $\mathrm{P}$ is same as at $\mathrm{A}$ and potential at $R$ is same as at $B$. This is equivalent to following: Therefore, the equivalent capacitance across AB is given by, $\Rightarrow C_{A B}=C+\frac{C}{2}+\frac{C}{2}=2 C$
