The equation of the circle passing through the foci of the ellipse x216+y29=1, and having centre at 0,3 is
  1. x2+y2-6y-5=0
  2. x2+y2-6y+5=0
  3. x2+y2-6y-7=0
  4. x2+y2-6y+7=0

Solution

For x216+y29=1

ae=16-9=7

Foci=±7,0

Radius=7+9=4

∴Equation of circle=x-02+y-32=42

⇒x2+y2-6y-7=0
