The equation of the asymptotes of the hyperbola 2 x 2 + 5 x y + 2 y 2 - 11 x - 7 y - 4 = 0 is

The equation of the asymptotes of the hyperbola 2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y-4=0 is
  1. 2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y-9=0
  2. 2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y+5=0
  3. 2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y+4=0
  4. 2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y+9=0

Solution

 Equation of the asymptotes of the given hyperbola is2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y+λ=0

This equation should represent line pair

So, abc+2fgh-af2-bg2-ch2=0

a=2  b=2  c=λ

h=52  g=-112  f=-72

4λ+3854-2×494-2×|2|4-λ×254=0

-9λ+45=0

λ=5

2x2+5xy+2y2-11x-7y+5=0
