The electronegativity follows the order

The electronegativity follows the order
  1. $\quad \mathrm{F}>\mathrm{O}>\mathrm{Cl}>\mathrm{Br}$
  2. $\quad \mathrm{F}>\mathrm{Cl}>\mathrm{Br}>\mathrm{O}$
  3. $\quad \mathrm{O}>\mathrm{F}>\mathrm{Cl}>\mathrm{Br}$
  4. $\quad \mathrm{Cl}>\mathrm{F}>\mathrm{O}>\mathrm{Br}$

Solution

$\mathrm{F}$ and $\mathrm{O}$ belong to 2 nd period whereas $\mathrm{Cl}$ and $\mathrm{Br}$ belong to $3 \mathrm{rd}$ and 4 th periods respectively. Hence the sequence of the E.N. is $\mathrm{F}>\mathrm{O}>\mathrm{Cl}>\mathrm{Br}$ .
