The current gain of a transistor in common emitter configuration is 80 . The resistances in collector and base sides of the circuit are $5 \Omega$ and $1 \mathrm{k} \Omega$ respectively. If the input voltage is 2 mV , the output voltage is
  1. 4 V
  2. 0.4 V
  3. 0.8 V
  4. 8 V

Solution

$\begin{aligned} & \text { } \beta=80, \mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{c}}=5 \mathrm{k} \Omega, \mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{B}}=1 \mathrm{k} \Omega \\ & \mathrm{~V}_{\mathrm{I}}=2 \mathrm{mV} \end{aligned}$
Now, $\frac{\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{o}}}{\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{I}}}=\beta \cdot \frac{\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{C}}}{\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{B}}}$ $\Rightarrow \mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{o}}=2 \times 10^{-3} \times 80 \times \frac{5}{1}=0.8 \mathrm{~V}$
