The association of histone H1 with a nucleosome indicates:
Transcription is occurring
DNA replication is occurring
The DNA is condensed into a chromatin fibre
The DNA double helix is exposed
Solution
The association of H1 protein indicates the complete formation of nucleosome which requires DNA condensation. The DNA is therefore in condensed form. Histone H1 is one of the five main histone protein families (H1, H2A, H2B, H3 and H4) which are components of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. H1 histones bind to the linker DNA exiting from the nucleosome core particle, thus making the nucleosome complete.
