The angular speed of a fly wheel moving with uniform angular acceleration changes from 1200 rpm to 3120 rpm in 16 seconds. The angular acceleration in rad s-2  is:

Solution

For uniform angular acceleration we can write,

ω=ω0+αtα=ω-ω0t

Given, ω=3120 rpm=3120×2π60=104π rad s-1

and ω0=1200 rpm=1200×2π60=40π rad s-1

Therefore, α=104π rad s-1-40π rad s-116=4π rad s-2
