The amplitude of the side bands of the modulated signal if the carrier signal and message signal amplitudes are $25 \mathrm{~V}$ and $5 \mathrm{~V}$ respectively is
  1. $0.5 \mathrm{~V}$
  2. $2.5 \mathrm{~V}$
  3. $0.2 \mathrm{~V}$
  4. $5 \mathrm{~V}$

Solution

We have $\mathrm{m}=\frac{\mathrm{A}_{\mathrm{m}}}{\mathrm{A}_{\mathrm{c}}}=\frac{5}{25}=\frac{1}{5}$ So, amplitude of side band $=\frac{\mathrm{mA}_{\mathrm{C}}}{2}=\frac{1}{5} \times \frac{1}{2} \times 25=2.5 \mathrm{~V}$
