Suppose that the points h,k,1,2 and -3,4 lie on the line L1. If a line L2 passing through the points h,k and 4,3 is perpendicular to L1, then kh equals:
  1. -17
  2. 3
  3. 0
  4. 13

Solution

Slope of line L1 is 4-2-3-1=2-4=-12
Hence slope of L2 is 2.
From line L1,  k-2h-1=-12
h+2k=5 …..(1)
From line L2,  k-3h-4=2
k=2h-5 ..…(2)
From (1) and (2) h=3 and k=1
kh=13
