Suppose ∆ A B C is an isosceles triangle with ∠ C = 90 ° , A = 2 , 3 and B = 4 , 5 . Then…

Suppose ABC is an isosceles triangle with C=90°,A=2,3 and B=4,5. Then the centroid of the triangle is
  1. 138,83
  2. 113,103
  3. 103,133
  4. 103,113

Solution

Plotting the diagram of given value we have,

So, AC=BC or AC2=BC2

x-22+y-32=x-42+y-52

  4-4x+9-6y=16-8x+25-10

  4x+4y=28

  x+y=7       ...1

Also ACBC we get

   Slope of AC× slope BC=-1

3-y2-x×5-y4-x=-1      ...2

3-y5-y=x-42-x

  15+y2-8y=-x2+6x-8

  x2+y2-8y-6x+23=0

From equation (1) y=7-x we get,

x2+7-x2-87-x-6x+23=0

x2+x2+49-14x-56+8x-6x+23=0

2x2-12x+16=0

x2-6x+8=0

x-4x-2=0

x=2 or 4

So point C2,5 or 4,3

Now centroid will be

G=2+2+43,5+5+3383,133

or G=4+2+43,3+3+53=103,113
