Solution

For fcc type of unit cell, $r=\frac{\sqrt{2}}{4} \mathrm{a}=0.3535 \mathrm{a}$ $\therefore \quad a=\frac{144 \mathrm{pm}}{0.3535}=407 \mathrm{pm}=4.07 \times 10^{-8} \mathrm{~cm}$
