Let [ t ] denote the greatest integer ≤ t . Then the value of 8 · ∫ - 1 2 1 ( [ 2 x ] + | x…

Let [t] denote the greatest integer t. Then the value of 8·-121([2x]+|x|)dx is

Solution

Let I=-121([2x]+|x|)dx

2x will be discontinuous at x = 0, 12 ; x  -12, 1

We know that x = x, x  0 ; -x , x <0.

=-120(-1-x)dx+01/2(0+x)dx+121(1+x)dx

We know that xndx = xn+1n+1 + c

=-x-x22-120+x2201/2+x+x22121

=(0)-+12-18+18+1+12-12+18=58

8-121([2x]+|x|)dx=5.
