Let p=2i^+3j^+k^ and q=i^+2j^+k^ be two vectors. If a vector r=αi^+βj^+γk^ is perpendicular to each of the vectors (p+q) and (p-q), and |r|=3, then |α|+|β|+|γ| is equal to             

Solution

Given,

p=2i^+3j^+k^ 

q=i^+2j^+k^

So, p+q=3i^+5j^+2k^ & p-q=i^+j^

Now, p+q×p-q=i^j^k^352110

=i^0-2-j^0-2+k^3-5

=-2i^+2j^-2k^

r=±3((p+q)×(p-q))|(p+q)×(p-q)|=±3(-2i^+2j^-2k^)22+22+22

r=±-i^+j^-k^

According to question 

r=αi^+βj^+γk^

So |α|=1,|β|=1,|γ|=1

|α|+|β|+|γ|=3
