Let ℂ be the set of all complex numbers. Let S 1 = z ∈ ℂ : z - 2 ≤ 1 and S 2 = z…

Let be the set of all complex numbers. Let S1=z:z-21 and S2=z:z1+i+z¯1-i4. Then, the maximum value of z-522 for zS1S2 is equal to :
  1. 3+224
  2. 5+222
  3. 3+222
  4. 5+224

Solution

Here, z-21 Put z=x+iy

x-22+y21

Also, z1+i+z¯1-i4

Gives x-y2

Let point on circle be A2+cosθ,sinθ

θ-3π4,π4

Let P be 52,0

So,

z-522=AP2=2+cosθ-522+sin2θ

=cos2θ-cosθ+14+sin2θ

=54-cosθ

For AP2 to be maximum θ=-3π4

AP2=54+12=52+442=5+224
