Let A = x , y ∈ ℝ 2 : y ≥ 0 , 2 x ≤ y ≤ 4 - x - 1 2 and B = x , y ∈…

Let A=x,y2:y0,2xy4-x-12 and B=x,y×:0ymin2x,4-x-12. Then the ratio of the area of A to the area of B is
  1. π-1π+1
  2. ππ-1
  3. ππ+1
  4. π+1π-1

Solution

Given,

2xy4-x-12 :y0

y2+x-12=4 and y=2x

Now plotting the diagram we get,

Area of A: area of shaded region as shown in the above figure,

Shaded portion = circular OABC

-ArOAB=π44-1221

Hence, Area of A=π-1

Now, plotting the diagram of 0ymin2x,4-x-12 we get,

Area of B: area of shaded region as shown in the above figure,

Area of B=ArAOB+ Area of arc of circle ABC

=1212+π224=π+1

Hence, AB=area of Aarea of B=π-1π+1
