Let α=12+42+82+132+192+262+.   upto 10 terms and β=n=110n4. If 4α-β=55k+40, then k is equal to _______.

Solution

Given,

α=12+42+82

Now, let tn=an2+bn+c

1=a+ b+c  ....i

4=4a+2b+c   ....ii

8=9a+3b+c  ....iii

Now, solving equation i, ii & iii we get,

a=12, b=32, c=-1

Hence, tn=n22+3n2-12

α=n=110n22+3n2-12

4α=n=110n2+3n-22 and β=n=110n4

4α-β=n=1106n3+5n2-12n+4

4α-β=6n=110n3+5n=110n2-12n=110n+4n=1101

4α-β=61010+122+510·11·216-1210·112+4·10

4α-β=6552+5·385-12·55+40

4α-β=55(353)+40

Hence, on comparing with 55k+40 we get, k=353
