Let A be a square matrix such that AAT=I. Then 12 A A+AT2+A-AT2 is equal to

Solution

Given: AAT=1

AT=A-1

Now, solving 

12AA+AT2+A-AT2=12A×2A2+2AT2+2AAT-2AAT12AA+AT2+A-AT2=12A×2A2+AT2

12AA+AT2+A-AT2=A3+AAT2

Now using, AAT=1,

12AA+AT2+A-AT2=A3+AT
