Let A and B be two events such that P B ∣ A = 2 5 , P A ∣ B = 1 7 and P A ∩ B = 1 9 .…

Let A and B be two events such that PBA=25, PAB=17 and PAB=19. Consider

S1PA'B=56,

 S2PA'B'=118. Then

  1. Both S1 and S2 are true
  2. Both S1 and S2 are false
  3. Only S1 is true
  4. Only S2 is true

Solution

Given,

 A and B be two events such that PBA=25, PAB=17 and PAB=19

Now using the formula of conditional probability we get,

PAB=17PABPB=17

19PB=17

PB=79

Now again using formula we get,

PBA=25PABPA=25

19PA=25

PA=518

Now we know that,

 PA'B=1-PAB+PB

PA'B=1-PA+PAB=56

And PA'B'=1-PAB

{also PAB=PA+PB-PAB}

PA'B'=1-PA-PB+PAB=118

Both S1 and S2 are true.
