The rate of hydrolysis will depend on how likely a molecule is to accepting  OH-  ions. Rate of hydrolysis α-M  effect or -I of ester. -M>-I. -NO2  is a strong EWG (Electron withdrawing group),-Cl is a weak EWG and OCH3 is an EDG(Electron donating group).
