In the following molecules,

Hybridisation of carbon a,b and c respectively are :

  1. sp3,sp,sp
  2. sp3,sp2,sp
  3. sp3,sp2,sp2
  4. sp3,sp,sp2

Solution

Hybridisation is found by steric number which is generally the summation of sigma bonds and lone pairs of electrons.

So as we can see a has four sigma bonds so it has sp3 hybridisation.

b,c has three sigma bonds so it has sp2 hybridisation.
