In one rotation 2 divisions of the main scale are crossed. Therefore, the least count of the screw gauge is

LC=2×0.5100=0.01 mm

And the zero error is 4×LC=0.04 mm

Reading-1

R1=MSR+LC×CSR-Zero error

=2+0.20-0.04mm

=2.16mm

Reading-2

R2=2+0.16-0.04mm=2.12mm

Therefore, average reading Rm=R1+R22=2.14 mm

Average mean error =Rm-R1+Rm-R22=0.02 mm

 Diameter d=2.14±0.02 mm

Area =πd24

 Area=2πd4d

 Areaπ0.02

 Area=πd24±Area=π1.14±0.02 mm2
