Solution

In case of alkyl aryl ethers, the products are always phenol and alkyl halide and never an aryl halide and alcohol. This is due to the fact that $\mathrm{O}-\mathrm{C}_6 \mathrm{H}_5$ bond has partial double bond and is stronger than $\mathrm{O}-\mathrm{R}$ bond. Therefore, halide ion exclusively breaks the $\mathrm{O}-R$ bond forming alkyl halide and phenol.
